Knee replacements are not evidence-based
Back in 2019 year I wrote a simple new article presenting a few key concerns about the efficacy of knee replacement: perfectly good information, but super basic. Yesterday I put a bunch more editorial effort into it, and it’s a much better page now. It’s particularly more shareable. The idea was always to make it a great link to send to someone considering knee replacement, and I think it’s much more ready for that duty now.
Basically the concern about knee replacement is that there are still no placebo-controlled trials … for one of the most profitable and popular surgical procedures in the history of medicine. “Only you and your surgeon can decide if it’s a good idea for you, but I hope some of these points will contribute to that conversation.” See (and share):
