Weekly nuggets of pain science news and insight, usually 100-300 words, with the occasional longer post. The blog is the “director’s commentary” on the core content of PainScience.com: a library of major articles and books about common painful problems and popular treatments. See the blog archives or updates for the whole site.

“Please keep me posted, if you wish: I like to know how my readers' stories turn out.”

I include this at the end of most emails to customers (tutorial buyers), and have for almost a decade now. And they respond! Sometimes even many years later.

Anecdotes are as unreliable as cats, but that doesn’t mean they’re worthless. I have learned a lot from all those readers’ stories over the years. It’s like a never-ending survey about the beliefs, fears, and hopes of people plagued by chronic pain and injuries that won’t heal. I see it all, from kooky tinfoil hattery — “Finally, after all these years, I was cured by drinking a glass of fresh urine every night for just a week! Thought you’d like to know!” — to the heartwrenching and heartwarming.
