How much does chronic pain interfere with your life? Probably more if you’re a woman routinely exposed to sexism! Probably due to the stress. Pain is more of a burden when you’re already angry/scared…as women tend to be.

That’s the implication of a new study by Boring et al, reporting a link between the frequency of daily experiences of gender discrimination and “greater pain interference” (the degree to which pain interferes with life). No such link was found for men. This also harmonizes nicely with Jin et al, who reported a similar link with social injustice more generally.

This is the kind of “woke” research that is currently being strangled in the US by the Trump administration. 🙄 And that is making women even angrier! It is a major escalation of the impact of systemic sexism on womens’ health.
