More than placebo, less than medicine

Paul Ingraham ARCHIVEDMicroblog posts are archived and rarely updated. In contrast, most long-form articles on PainScience.com are updated regularly over the years.

Trigger points: “So what is going on? My best guess.” I’ve written a new final section for my mildly scandalous “Trigger Point Doubts” article, a “working theory that almost everyone can probably agree to,” namely that trigger point therapy consists of a combination of a good story with induced sensory modulation, which may explain effects that often seem to be somewhat grander than just placebo, while still being less than medicine.

This is the MICROBLOG: small posts about interesting stuff that comes up while I’m updating & upgrading dozens of featured articles on PainScience.com. Follow along on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS. Sorry, no email subscription option at this time, but it’s in the works.
